3. Can't leave the house without...?

What can you never leave the house without? For me it's a scarf, because a) I love my scarves and think they are a great accessory and b) this is Ireland, it's cold out there. Over the years I have built up quite the collection of scarves, only maybe discarding a few and have 11 at the moment I think, most of which were presents from my family since they are well clued in to my liking of scarves. Perhaps that's too many, but it doesn't seem that way when I mainly come back to my two old reliables practically every day!

My current favourite scarf is one I received last Christmas as a gift from my mom. It's a wooly scarf from New Look and oh my, the colours are amazing and complement each other so well. I really like it! Think of a strong navy, with specks of cream, fuschia and baby blue.

Yes, that's me wearing the scarf. What do you think? What can you not leave the house without? Tell me in the comments below. Thank you for reading xx

No. 2 . Studying at home rather than school

As a 6th year student, I need to study. As a 6th year student with mocks starting in less than 2 weeks, I need to eat maths theorems for breakfast, the laws of reflection for lunch and na aistí for dinner. Even if I did do this, which I wouldn't, because I can't honestly say the taste of second hand paper appeals to me, I still wouldn't be ready.

I began studying a few months ago, and I feel just as much despair as when I first started. It seems impossible to fit almost 2 years of coursework for 7 subjects into my brain. Believe me when I say I have tried a lot of methods of studying. I've gone from merely reading the book, to flashcards, to recording myself, to listening to relaxing music and yet I have still to find a way that works for me. I have started a new method lately involving a ring binder, lots of coloured paper, sticky notes and coloured markers as you will see below!

What do you think? I quite like it to be honest, even if it does take a lot of effort. I can't be the only one who gets great satisfaction from nicely presented notes in an array of colours right?

During 3rd year, before my Junior Cert, I discovered that a day off now and again didn't do me any harm. In fact I greatly benefited from it! I found that I was more capable of an increased work load and study at home, in a relaxed environment along with feeling less overwhelmed than when I was following a teacher's plan and working at a speed that didn't suit me.

I am thinking of this right now as I lie in bed at 8:30am when I should be outside in the freezing cold, soaked to the skin (God bless Irish weather) waiting for my bus to school. Many will not approve of staying at home to study rather than going to school, saying that I am compromising my future and the results I will achieve, but that's not how I see it. I am not staying home to watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S re-runs and stay in bed all day. Maybe that's what I would like to do, but now is not the time for that with only around 134 days until the Leaving Cert! I am taking my future into my own hands by staying at home and studying in a way that helps me in the long run.

What does everyone else think about staying at home a day now and again to study? or has anyone else any methods of studying I could try? I would love to hear some suggestion! :D Thank you for reading. x

1. The Intro

Why hello there people of the Internet!

This is my second attempt at a blog. The first shall not be spoken of as it didn't quite work out lets say..but blogging is one of my many ambitions in life (among singing, writing, photography etc) so I may as well try again, right?

Although I am not yet comfortable enough to disclose my name (the secondary school hierarchy is not forgiving if you happen to stand out), I will provide some minor details to keep the curiosity at bay.

I am an Irish, 17 year old, 6th year student. The range of my interests is fairly broad but I'll try to give you guys an idea. School subject wise, I love science - biology mainly (can't say I love physics tbh due to painfully boring teacher). Music wise, I love almost all types of music from classical to pop and still find new artists I come to love all of the time! Ed Sheeran, Paramore & Paulo Nutini are my faves atm though! I also love to sing, dance, cook and read new books even though I don't quite have so much time anymore with the infamous leaving certificate exams coming along in June. In fact I should be studying right now but yet here I am.

To be very honest, I have no idea where this blog will go since I enjoy quite a few different things. Maybe it will end up a mixture of everything. Maybe I will define it or maybe..it will be a fail like the first one. You never know.

Thank you for reading, I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy what is to come. x
